Since this site opened last year I've rallied to get Rockbox going on the Vision:M. The most important thing we needed were programmers capable of modifying Creative's Firmware. If you've been checking our ZVM Firmware Mod thread, you'll know that great progress has been made over the last few weeks. It's now possible to replace certain stock images on the player with new ones. This includes any font type you want, as seen in this video I made: The process of changing fonts is very easy. Rather than sifting through those 50+ pages in the Mod thread, one of our members has provided a site with all the downloads you need to get started, as well as the steps to change the font. Click HERE to access his site. I've also created a pictured guide following his steps which you can read below... Guide to Customizing Fonts There are currently two methods to switching fonts. I find both to be equally simple. Method 1 (created by Bob Baluba) 1.) Download the zip file provided HERE, unzip it, and extract it to a folder. 2.) Obtain any .tff (True Font File) font you like. You can use the fonts from Windows by going to your Control Panel and opening the "Fonts" folder". (For my sample, I'm using Vibrocentric) [ image disabled ] 3.) Simply drag the font directly onto the .exe program in that unzipped folder. Once you do, a screen will pop-up confirming the addition of your font. It will also create a new directory to house your newly created nk.bin files at C:\CtJbFW\newbin 4.) All that's left is for you to get that new bin file on your player. This is done by loading up a modified Firmware Upgrader. You can download it HERE (created by Hitman2k7) [ image disabled ] 5.) Now just connect your player, and hit the "Upgrade" button on the Upgrader and it'll take care of the rest. [ image disabled ] 6.) The updater may eventually say that it has failed, but it actually does work. Either way Disconnect your player after it's done and you'll now see your new font. Method 2 (created by Mcuelenaere) 1.) Download the program HERE and extract it. [ image disabled ] 2.) Open up the program and you'll see a straightforward interface for adding fonts. 3.) For the input, simply locate a .tff font on your pc 4.) For the output, use the same nk.bin location as method one (i.e. C:\CtJbFW\newbin) 5.) Hit the Go! button. Your nk.bin file will now be overwritten and will include your new font 6.) Now just like in Method 1, use the Firmware Updater to update your ZVM's firmware. I'm thrilled to see this much progress happening day by day. Soon these Creative members of ours will go even further, and eventually the ZVM will get Rockbox. I want to thank Mcuelenaere, Hitman2k7, Bob Baluba, and everyone else on this site, and at Rockbox.org who have helped to get this far.
