Hi guys, after doing alot of comparison between the Vision M and Ipod Video i decided that the Vision was the only way to go, so i happily purchased myself one last week. I took extreme care of the unit and always kept it in the pouch and was careful not to scratch it. I was very happy with my purchase (especially after i found the Custom EQ)

Unfortunately two days ago i kept my ZVM in my pocket and when i took it out i found that my screen had cracked from the inside! I was puzzled because i had no idea how i had cracked the screen and there was no visible damage on the faceplate. I took it back to the shop from where i puchased it from and they would not give me a refund or exchange, i also called Creative and was told that they do not cover LCD's in their warranty !sad. They offered to give me a quote on how much the repair would cost, i am still waiting on a call back. So now i have a nice and shiny ZVM which is not really functional because only about 1/4 of the screen works..

I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with my problem as i've heard this is quite a common problem with ipods. Are there any places where i can get my ZVM repaired or purchase a replacement LCD for the ZVM?

Sorry for the long post but its really getting to me that my new ZVM is broken..

Wow, bummer in the summer. I guess both Creative and the shop can refuse to swap the player because of a broken screen, and besides I think you're the first one in here (I don't follow other forums) to complain about this.
All of which leads me to say that I don't know anyone that can repair your ZV:M.

You could try ebay to see if anyone is selling LCD's for the ZVM.

That's a first. A cracked screen with no damage done to it. Are you sure you dind't bang it up against something on accident? As for a replacement screen, I'd just search the internet to see if that's even available yet.

go to the shop and tell them that the device never have worked. You tried to boot it first time last day and there you saw that the screen was broken, so they must replace your device. It's maybe not the truth but i think it's a chance for a free replacement. I would try it

Yah, hopefully, it wont be too pricey. Although, worst cxase, I guess you could try to send it back complaining that the battery sucks or something...and then just have the broken LCD be an unfortunately shipping problem...asssuming you actually are having battery troubles...

Heres what you do..Open your zvm without breaking the sticker, and just burn the wires..all of them. Tell creative the HD melted when you turned it on

Just had the same thing happen to my wifes Nokia 6111. The cracked screen is a function of pressure placed on the screen. Given the outside layer is plastic you don't see any damage but there are thin layers of glass below that crack. So, unfortunately , the screen breaking is the result of some pressure you placed on it while in your pocket.

Oh ok, i will do that now.. all i need is a replacement LCD Screen as my dad can replace it. Does anyone know where i can find one or even the model number of the screen? i've done a quick search around and there are Ipod and PSP replacement screens all over the place but

5G Ipod Video replacement screen for only $29.00 US

There are also Brand new PSP Screens sold on ebay for $50.00 AU and it is alot bigger than the ZVM's

Creative should really have a fixed price on LCD Screens as this can be a common problem for them in the future.

If Creative try to charge you, at the moment they are quoting about $122 or £99, you are probably better off selling the broken Zen on an auction site and with the money made by that and a bit more you could buy another, probably would turn out to be cheaper than pay Creative to fix it.

Hey guys sorry, i kinda forgot about my thread here.

If anyone is still curious, i got a replacement unit from Creative back in July. It cost me $145 Australian dollars for the unit. It arrived in roughly 2 weeks from the date i posted my old ZVM
