As the title says, I've extracted some PNG images using a PHP script.
I know this isn't the best way to do so, but as I've seen, no-one has done this, so I thought, I'd share these images with Epizenter.
And no, I haven't find a way to put them back in the nk.bin file, so don't ask me for one.

For newcomers to this thread:
read this and see this for firmware uploading

see this for themes etc.

I've searched a bit in the nk.bin file with an hex editor and saw that the files ended at 0xFFFFFF.
Then I made a little script (in PHP, because it's the only language i'm pretty good at atm) to split the file up in an array.
Then I wrote every element to a file, and I read somewhere that there are PNG files in the NK.bin
So I searched the file header for a PNG file and I adjusted the script.

I know nothing about scripting in PHP sadly, but that makes sense, I presume that is the PHP script in the zip file with it?

I know nothing about scripting, but I downloaded them just to see what kind of images the firmware offers that I haven't seen. The one with the ZVM being plugged into a black box was kind of interesting...however, do you (the OP) own a 60g? All I can think of is that the image is for the USB host thing.

MPIO FL350 512Mb (blue)
Samsung YP-K5 4gb
Apple iPod Touch 8gb (pre-ordered)

No, I don't. But I can't remember where I got the NK.bin from.
When there's an update for my (30gigs) ZVM, I'll use that NK.bin file, and see what's in there.
And what do you exactly mean with "the OP" ?

Here's an updated version, 100% sure it's a 30gigs NK.bin file, cause I just ripped it during the update process (v.1.61.01).
Especially look at the 4_new.txt file, cause the strings are in there(it's a cleaned version of 4.txt)
And I left out 857.png cause it's to big (16MB) and it sure isn't a PNG file.
I also updated the PHP file, if anyone is interested.

Edit:
Apparently, there isn't an attachment, I think because the forum doesn't allow files of this size so I will be uploading it to rapidshare or something like that...

Edit2:
Here's the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/9934636/firmware_extracted.zip.html

Edit3:

Oh yeah, and if anyone knows what SWORDFISH_RESOURCE means, or for what it stands, or which program has been used for it, plz tell me because I found this string in the NK.bin file...

OP means "original poster."

That's interesting about the image...I wonder what it's for.

hella sweet. i have not seen some of these images on the 30gb one. Cant you just put them in a nk.bin folder and put it back in the firmware? I know nothing about this so i am probably wrong.

do you think it is possible at all to put the pictures back. i would like to start changing the colors on stuff but if it is impossible then i dont want to waste my time modifying it.

Even if I could (and it sure is possible, but I can't do it), we would put the firmware back on the device and I don't think anyone knows how to do this (and this is also possible).

We would have to sniff the USB and capture the packets and then fake an upgrade with the modified firmware OR we could try to put back the firmware in the .exe file, but I think it's
a) signed
b) encrypted
c) both

and I don't know anything about encryption...

Thx, but don't count on me, because I won't be working so much on this.
It was fun to do, but I just am not the right person to do this
