They havn't released a good player since the ZVM as a legitimate player for anyone who needs more than 8 GB of room. The Zune is a fantastic player and I like it even more than my ZVM (which I gave to my girlfriend). you have a point there... I ended up with the Zen and I'm considering dumping it for a Zune due to the annoying fact that I have to sit and wait for videos to convert. That was one feature I adored on my ZVM. As a few posts above, its apparent people prefer higher capacity than what the current flash based mp3 players offer. I still think 32gb will fit 95% of the users just fine but the current price isn't feasible for a flash based player. Why pay $300 for 32gb in a flash based player when you can get more than double the capacity for $50 less and then some. Pros of the Zen to the Zune 4gb/8gb Gorgeous 2.5" 16.7m screen SD Card expansion (limited due to poor implementation of it software-wise) Can be used with 3rd party apps Sound Quality Can be found with 16gb/32gb capacities Pros of the Zune 4gb/8gb to the Zen Wireless Easier menu system (This is more of a preferences thing. I find I can navigate a zune a whole lot quicker and with less button presses than I do with my Zen). Supports one handed operation a lot easier Supports most video files without conversion Sound is on par with the Zen Their Social network is really going to be a plus for most users (Think of myspace for mp3 players) Smaller (if size is everything) Zune all around is more friendly when using the actual device than the Zen. For instance, my Zen, I had to manually embed album art into my tracks because their software won't do it automatically. Video conversion is a [censored] as has been mentioned. The UI on the Zen is a bit confusing, and the actual quality of the hardware itself is lacking. My 16GB Zen has been fine from when I got it around January, but now the battery life is really tailing off to the point where I'm probably getting 8 hours to a charge, with the screen brightness way down. Disappointing, but they have nobody to blame but themselves. Unless their next player is a hell of a lot better I'll be going the Zune route.

The software for the Zune (though since the update that may have changed) really sucked. As an overall device the Zune ROCKS (IMO). The only way Creative has a chance is to start making products that are better quality and that they (finally) will support 100%. Since they keep half-assing and then arguing with their customers I feel that their losing market share is a self-inflicted ailment. MS has nothing to do w/creative. I sold my Zen 32 because as good as it was it really left a lot to be desired. I'm waiting to see if the X-Fi is a redeeming offering by them. If not then I'll just come back to epiZENter.net for the great company. Creative could actually be selling more than they did last year, but the Zune still sold more. With a market share pct, it's impossible to tell if they're actually taking any away or stimulating the purchase of more. Average it out and the Zune doesn't even scratch the creative sales percentage. Besides, who really cares as long as you get a player that fits your needs, I had only 2 reasons why I returned my Zune: 1)No EQ - self explanatory. 2)The steps for volume control are 2 limited - need more as 0-20 is not sufficient. Either 0-30 or better 0-40. #10 might be too low & #11 may be too loud. Now think about it, creative would never have had most of their problems if they would treat their customers better (new as well as long-standing). The SDHC card crap is just 1 example. At least MS is trying - still no eq and better volume control - but I'll give them time before I prob go back myself (unless, as I mentioned before, the X-Fi really ROCKS!!!). The Zune has the ability to be better then my D2 - I REALLY hope they get on their game!!! And the issue of overall capacity is a non-issue to me. Tagrunner is strictly for tagging but it includes a lyrics search. Tagrunner isn't free as well. Mediamonkey is free, great music organizer, and it can tag all your media files for you except lyrics. With the Touch I've learned to deal with smaller memory space I was told my sig was too long so I made it shorter. Iphone 32GB... do I need anything else?

And then there was that whole Daniel_K thing, and the lawsuit... To be honest, (and kind of off topic)I find my Archos 605 30GB to be a great ZV:M30GB replacement, lol. Has a little more features*, Supports more Audio and Video files**, bigger and better screen, comes in lower and higher HD capacities. SD support (for the 4GB model). And a few other things. *&**: Of course, Archos likes to nickle and dime your ass for the extra features and file support.

And the SD card slot is pointless until they actually get full SD integration. I don't think they bought one because it had Wi-fi either. This proves again that high capacity HD players are in demand. Let this teach you a good lesson Creative for abandoning HD.
