ZenZen I'm hopeful that when/if a consumer device does become available it may be sporting the newer version of the zii chip and some upgraded hardware specs as this device may be a but outdated by the time all the kinks are worked out.

I think you could be right michael2300, its really up to whoever picks it up. i would love a zii inspired mp3 player soon from creative but the possibilities with the zii chip is huge. I just want a consumer oriented one now whoever that may be. michael remember that its still a dev edition but rama actually owns one and he knows what he is talking about.

Hey d00d I think the ZII site was just down that. I was able to place the order the next day. Looking forward to it and I hope this project moves forward towards the consumer market. Projects like ZII Life indicate that the EGG is being geared towards becoming a VOIP handset which would be great. What do you guys think?

Hi guys. Forgetting about apps. I have a few questions regarding the zii egg.

1)Music transfer and playback is it crisp, or buggy at best?
2) HD Video camera is it functioning properly so that videos can be transferred to PC correctly?
3) Regular Camera, is the quality at least decent?
4)How does the speed of the browser compare to other mobile devices?
5) Is the mic functional? I'd like to record live interviews with it.
I ask because I cover live sporting events and these various hardware functions would be enormously helpful without having to lug around different devices for different tasks. Thanks and I hope I get some helpful responses.

I understand and that is what leads me to believe it's either never going to be released to consumers, or that their road map for firmware updates appears to be so skewed, as if they don't seem to be giving it preference at all.

I personally don't think a Zii based player will come out from Creative, but I'm not ruling out the possibility. By midyear we'll see something, be it a stone, mozaic, Zii or X-Fi3, or just a rumor.

It's anybody's guess really, Creative product release cycle is pretty strange nowadays, for all we know, tomorrow they can have a great player out.

How much longer do you think? Another member commented that the EGG is another year away. Is that realistic?

according to ZiiLabs's website, this device has the potential to have the richest featureset of all PMPs. it all depends on its firmware taking advantage of all those features. the site says that some features will be missing on Android at first. however, as long as Plaszma gets finished, i'm happy. and since it's currently on version 0.99, i'm assuming version 1.0 (and probably the device itself) is just around the corner....

...the x-fi was based largely on user input from epizenter and other places...
...it worked out well for them financially i believe...
...the zii egg running on android hasnt been upgraded to 2.0 as they are still working out the basics...
