With OpenGL ES support, 256MB's of RAM, and a built-in accelerometer, the Zii EGG makes for a pretty capable gaming device. Below you can see a short demo of the EGG playing a 3D racing game. The video game industry has been growing at a record pace, so it would definitely be a good move for Creative to market the Zii EGG as a gaming platform. Apple has done that with great success with the iPhone (and iPod touch). So a show of hands, how many people would be interested in having games on their player? via Zii.com

Jul 29 (2009) 09:36AM ![]() | Im not really a big fan of these type of games using the accelerometer. I'd rather play something on the ds or psp though I don't own either one of them as gaming isn't a priority for me. On that note, I still wouldn't mind seeing an adventure game like monkey island make an appearance. cart some old amiga classics on there and I'd be happy. |

Jul 29 (2009) 09:42AM ![]() | I agree with that. I rather physical controls myself. It'd be alright for some racing games, and maybe puzzle games too. The touchscreen could be used in combination with the accelerometer for FPS type of games. I also like the upcoming trend of "augmented reality" games. With the Zii's camera, it should definitely be able to do that. I think that's definitely one future path gaming will take. Here's a cool example of an Augmented reality game demo using Nvidia's Tegra chip: [Linky] (the game seems to be a bit of a rip from Sony's "The Last Guy" but the conept itself is cool) [ edited Jul 29 (2009) 09:45AM ] |

Jul 29 (2009) 09:46AM | it's nice to have games on the device but I think for that to happen to zii it has to be adopted by many many people, otherwise nobody would be interested to code a game for a devise that nobody owns |

Jul 29 (2009) 10:00AM | I'm not that interested in games on the Zii too. I still prefer to play games on my psp and ds.... I really like buttons. Even on my ds, I still prefer to use buttons when the choice is offered. It would be nice to have a couple of games on the player for when I'm really bored but I'm also not a huge fan of the accelerometer type of games. I might get a kick out for it for a while but unless it's a really good game, I probably wouldn't care and it's not a priority for me. What I'm really interested in is what looks like the the flexibility of the player and the HD Camera. If I'm able to get the player to do things I want it to do, play all kinds of video and audio formats, use languages that I want it to use (better still if it has handwriting recognition for Chinese and Japanese) and not do stuff I don't want to do... I would be very happy. I'm not that interested in a phone but if the still camera abilities are really good on it, then I wouldn't mind using it as a phone even without the keypad which I like and even though I don't like my phones to be so big. |

Jul 29 (2009) 10:16AM | Neither am I, not a real game fanatic, but i thought the demo illustrates the power and possibility of the Zii chip. This could excite folks who develop movement based 3D gaming. |

Jul 29 (2009) 10:24AM | It works better than it seems. Racing games are very playable with the accelerometer on my iPhone, but it depends on the coding of the individual game. |

Jul 29 (2009) 10:26AM | I would like to have casual games on it. I'm interested in seeing how well it would run an fps game and have the camera button be a trigger .Was there any mention of a vibration function? Gotta have that for some games. |

Jul 29 (2009) 04:05PM ![]() | Games are good. Accelerometer games that aren't racing games suck. |
