This Zen Moo ad is both quirky and creepy

Just in time for the new year Creative has announced the Zen Moo in China. Well technically the Chinese New Year begins on January 26th in 2009 but close enough. As many of you know, the Zen Moo was made to pay tribute to the "Year of the Ox". According to the Zodiac (and Wikipedia), "The Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work." Hopefully that rings true in these tough economic times. Okay enough with the school lesson, how about a little fun? While browsing Creative China I found this ad for the Zen Moo. It's cute, creepy, and everything in between. I've uploaded to youtube for your viewing pleasure:

Isn't that the best darn cow animation you've ever seen? I gave the Zen moo a hard time in my last article, but I've warmed up to it since. I think it's a cute little player and Creative really put the details into it. They even put large black splotches on the carrying case for that full bovine experience. The player is currently exclusive to China, but I'd sure like to see it here.

I want to wish everyone here all the best for 2009! We'll be back better than ever next year.

woooow, can't believe what I just saw..
I'm extremely ashamed that I am on a Creative fan site and that I own products made by this company..........

hope this is some kind of sick joke..

lol, I'm trying hard not to take this so seriously anymore. Basically every company makes some moves that'll have you scatching your head. Iriver for instance makes some good DAP's, but they also are making Mickey and Minnie mouse digital frames through a partnership with Disney.

Important thing is whether it will sell, not how high the tech is. Zen Mozaic and Zen selling very well at walmart.com

Yeah, I think if Creative marketed this well in China they could get some good sales for the New Years celebration.

having said that.. I like em.. I hope they make another one of these for next year.

Entertaining At least we know these things are coming. The Zen Moo cow speakers are on my 'this is interesting' gift list.

According to Creative China's website, the Zen Moo portables themselves give us more run-of-the-mill sub-standard codec support (MP3, WMA) along with what is for sure embedded batteries and fixed storage with no options for expansion. I won't be supporting their efforts in this area. The speakers I can live with. Very cute addition and likely far more longevity than these players.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, ssjmichael.

yep i agree with the crap about embedded batteries and fixed storage. Im so glad the vado HD didn't go down that route with fixed batteries.
