8GB Zen V Plus Now Official

We were the first to report on the possibility of an 8GB Zen V Plus, and I'm pleased to tell you Creative has confirmed it with an official announcement. Many of us have been trying to guess what color this new capacity will come in, if any. Well, the press release states it will be in black, with a red accent. That sounds nice to me.

The player will be Available in October in Singapore, and eventually come to other countries after. Pricing (in Singapore dollars) is S$429.00 (~$270US). It will most likely be cheaper when it shows up here though. Creative's move to 8GB was very quick compared to past trends. In my opinion, this is one of the better flash players out there for what it offers and for it's value. If you've yet to read it, I've reviewd the ZVP extensively Here

8GB, that is going to be a great addition in the flash arena as long as the price comes down first.

Ipod Nano 8GB better watch out.

Hmm...been checking the specs. Zen V /V+ gets only 15 hours battery life? New iPod Nano gets 24 hours! That doesn't exactly work in the Zen's favour.

Most battery tests have it getting like 20 hours. I got 16 hours and 37 minutes with high bitrate files included and actual usage.. Keep in mind, this player was made to compete with the original Nano which only had like 14 hours of battery life. The 2G nano was relaased just 2 weeks ago.

I don't think that's it. That was posted a few days ago, and was apparently on the Singapore site before this. The description says its Black with a red accents

Well, that's dissppointing news.... as I think an 8G V+, would be a nice addition and would certainly be one of only 3 in that capacity in the market.

Bit of a bonehead move IMO..
It might even have tempted me, even though the non-variable scroll speed issue has me concerned... something that should be fixable with an update to the firmware...

I'd much rather have an 8G V over an 8G nano.. and it'd be a tough decision over the 8G Sansa.. but I believe I'd choose the V/V+

Based on those prices you could buy a ZVM. Thats just doesnt make sense to me.

Definitely a bonehead move (I agree Utew) ... it actually is a bit of a turnoff for me right now ... I'm actually kinda pissed if they truly don't release it in the States. Based on their price point of the other V-pluses, it could retail anywhere from $ 199 - 229.00, which is below what the iPod Nano retails for ($ 249.00).

Freelancer, flash prices are always more expensive. The 8GB iPod Nano is the same price as the 30GB iPod. It's just the way the market is right now.

I really can't believe they wouldn't try and sell the 8GB player here eventually. It would make no sense really...

Freelancer44,

Guess I'll state the obvious here. Flash players are infinitely more reliable than HD based players. More expensive..yes.. but flash prices are comng down with near regularity.. for that we have Apple and SanDisk to thank.

But it puts real stress on companies like Creative.. who are struggling to make a profit. If player prices continue to fall.. and I think they will, due in no small part to a brewing battle between Microsoft and Apple.. we may very well see some DAP manufacturers exit the market......

i just saw the 8GB V+ for sale on the creative singapore site. it's black and blue like the 4GB model. wonder if they accept US orders? hmm...

oh yeah, naturally they also have the 60GB ZVM for sale there too!

PS;
it's not just listed, you can actually put it in your cart and buy it now.

i'm pretty sure that you can find a 8gb plus on a site somewhere even if it isn't releaed in the usa. i would have got one but my phones just packed up and i need to get a new one. i thinking maybe the o2 ice as it is not too expensive and has a great feature set so it'll just be like having another creative player

Anybody seen any pictures of the red ZV+ yet?
Creative added the 8gig blue one to their 360 degree view on their website but no red one.
