As many stores are still getting the Zen V in stock, Creative has officially lowered the prices of them. We saw the same thing happen with the Vision:M, which went from $329 to $299 a few months after its release. The new prices for the Zen V are excellent and make it one of the best priced high capacity flash players available. Here's a price comparison of it with it's competition:
Prices and Players reflected as of September 21st, 2006 Prices for the 1,2, and 4GB Zen V were $119, $149, and $179 respectively. It should be clear from looking at this table, that the Zen V sells at a considerably lower price than other players in its range. To put it into a better perspective, a fellow editor at DAPreview reviewd the Insignia Amigo. Both players now sell at the same price. To really drill it into you, the 1GB iPod Shuffle sells for $99. Not only are the prices better than most , but the ZV offers more features for the price (line-in recording, voice recorder etc..). The move to lower the prices for the Zen V, may indicate a price drop for the Zen V Plus as well. I currently own the Zen V Plus and it's a great little player. I will be providing my extensive review of it in the next two weeks. Creative Zen V at Amazon.com Thanks, Who ME

Sep 05 (2006) 07:26PM | Michael, That puts creative in a very good position for the holidays since the sansa price drop would have affected their sales. I can't wait to get my 4gb ZV Plus! [ edited Sep 05 (2006) 08:05PM ] |

Sep 05 (2006) 11:07PM ![]() | Besides becoming more competitive, they are also conveniently avoiding a mistake that Apple made: The 5G ipod and the 4GB ipod nano are too close in terms of price. They are competing with each other. (Now if only creative can do something about the Zen Micro and the Microphoto.) |

Sep 05 (2006) 11:49PM ![]() | Creative seems to be facing reality with this price drop for the V/V+... Saleswise, it was a very good move. Profit-wise is a different matter. None-the-less, it makes the V/V+ very attractive... |

Sep 06 (2006) 03:32PM | this is a great move on Creative's part to contend with the other top dogs in the flash DAP market. I just hope they can meet initial consumer demands better than they did with the ZVM: right now, bestbuy.com is sold out of all zen v's.... |

Sep 07 (2006) 07:29AM | Creative probably did this because Sandisk is reportly coming out with a new player (Sansa C200 series) that competes with the the Ipod shuffle and Creative Zen V but has a 1.4" screen. Reportly, a 1GB would be $80 and 2GB for $99. I think it is a scaled back version of the E200 series without video playback. [ edited Sep 07 (2006) 07:35AM ] |

Sep 18 (2006) 01:33PM | Good prices, but I feel the Zen Neeon or whatever it is would be a better competitor for the iPod Nano. The Neeon should also be renamed to Nano, don't quite understand the purpse of the Zen V |
