Specs now listed for Zen Vision W and 60GB ZVM

Yesterday we were pleased to find Creative's announcement of the Vision W and 60GB Vision:M. However we were still lacking specifications for these new players. How thick are they? What's the battery life? Any new codecs? Well, Creative just posted the product pages for these players and here's a little table I made indicating the differences:

ZVM Product PageZVW Product Page

As you can see the 60GB ZVM is thicker. I think this was to be expected since the standard 60GB HD is thicker than a 30GB HD. With this extra bit of depth, you will also get a few extra hours of battery life for audio and video. As for the ZVW, it's specs are on par with some popular Archos PMP models. The battery life has a ">" (greater than) sign next to them, which is something we don't usually see on product pages.

Additionally, the 60GB Vision:M looks like it's only be available in black and. white. Even more unsettling is the fact that these two players were not announced at Creative's US site. The picture of the panda on the box of the ZVW makes it seem like it will be an Asian exclusive. Let's just hope that's not the case

Is that a typo? I always thought that my 30GB ZVM had an LCD screen.

Edit: According to Creative's website. The 30GB ZVM has an LCD screen and the Zen Vision has a TFT screen. (I dont know about the 60GB versions though.)

A heavy-duty 60GB model with USB host feature is also available in black or white.

any idea what they mean by "heavy-duty"?

I saw the ZEN Vision W today at COMEX. And I'm glad to say, it uses a different screen from the ZEN Vision. You can view it from almost any angle ... a great improvement from the ZEN Vision.

And i think the term "Heavy-duty" is just a nicer way to say "Hey-i'm-bulkier-but-i-last-longer-and-store-much-more".

The prices listed are not in US dollars. I believe it's in Singapore Dollars.

As supermonkey said the TFT screens are still LCD

Oh, OK...I was thinking that maybe the 60GB ZVM might utilize the more durable plastic of the Zen V, instead of the more scratchable stuff of the 30GB ZVM.....

That's what I thought as well Bit.

Yeah.. I hope the price is in SD.

ssjmichael, do you know how ZVW manage their files?
Is it has capability to create, rename and delete folder, so we can manage our files??

Just checked the product pages, definitely in Singapore dollars. Just look at the flag in the top right corner.

I think the ZVW handles files the same way a ZVM does. I don't think we'll be able to create and rename on the go, but we should be able to delete files. This is an MTP device so it won't be as easy as a UMS device would be (when connected to a PC or on the go),

I don't think you all should worry about if the light blue, pink, and green 60GB models have been eliminated just yet. The Creative site only has green, white, and black listed as color options in Singapore for the 30GB model... Catch my drift?

I'm a little disappointed to see the 60-gigger is bigger, but that was to be expected. I can just imagine my classmates mistaking it for an iPod, and then saying but wait...it's too thick. Oh well, I'd just win them over with the sheer awesomeness of my ZVM sooner or later.

ashxcore, Creative stated from the start that the pink and blue won't be available in Singapore.

Oh, well you misinterpreted me, then. But I guess I wasn't very clear to begin with. ^_^; Singapore lacks pink and blue for the 30GB models. That said, they lack colors available in the US, so the same might be true as regards to the 60GB ZVM (Singapore will only support white and black, but other places will get the full gamut of colors).
