![]() AV Watch has a nice photo spread of Creative's new Zen V, including some comparisons with the iPod nano. While the Zen V is certainly more compact, it's quite a bit thicker as well. If you can live with that then you'll get a couple of handy features which are missing from the iPod nano, like FM radio and audio recording (on the Plus version), along with support the WMA codec - including music subscription services. Check it out We here at epiZENter should picking up a player to review in the near future so stay tuned for that. ![]()

Jul 07 (2006) 01:19PM | Great pics! Unfortunately, though, these pics confirm what I was afraid of ... how awful the screen is. I sure wish Creative would have gone the extra mile and put a nicer screen on this baby ... a better one than the MicroPhoto (in fact, from the pics, the screen looks worse than the MicroPhoto). *sigh* Great pics, though! It is a hot-looking player, that's for sure ... Pam ![]() |

Jul 07 (2006) 02:57PM | My local Fry's just got the Zen V in and they had one on display. The screen is better than the above picture. It seems identical to the Micro Photo screen. I was expecting a small player, but I was still surprized at how small the player really was. I talked to one of the employees and they seem to have been getting a lot of positive buzz around it and one of the managers had even just bought one. Looks good so far. |

Jul 07 (2006) 03:27PM | Bobbs: What city/state do you live in? Perhaps I should go check out my Fry's this weekend (I'm in Southern California). Of course, I shouldn't expect much from my Fry's ... they are completely ninnies there Pam [ edited Jul 07 (2006) 06:05PM ] |

Jul 07 (2006) 06:55PM | I'm up in Portland, OR. I'd imagine that the West Coast should recieve the players around the same time. If you go on the weekends there usually is a Creative rep in Fry's which should know more than the Fry's employees. Good luck. |

Jul 10 (2006) 01:57AM | Zooomboxster ... That always happens to me at my Best Buy (Murrieta, CA). I've been in that store several times the past few weeks to try out the iRiver Clix and the first few times it said it needed a charge ... the lsat time I went in it was completely dead. And asking anyone there to fix it, they look at me like I'm speaking Greek ... one guy did tell me he tried to get it to work that day but couldn't ... must be broken. I hate that ... Pam |

Jul 11 (2006) 04:49PM ![]() | The nano is super thin to begin with though. Saying something is 2-3 times thicker than the nano isn't saying too much in my opinion. I personally like more grip when using aplayer. The nano is way to thin for my hands. |

Jul 12 (2006) 01:30AM ![]() | My niece has a Nano and I agree with ssjmichael.. it's way to thin to be comfortable.. When it first came out, I was quite impressed.. but playing with it now doesn't impress me at all.. Off-Topic and I realize it's a different beast entirely, but just as a comparison.. everytime I hold/watch/listen to my ZVM, I am amazed and thrilled.. the enjoyment has not yet worn off.. after 4+ months.... |
