Nice to see creative still giving us new FW...but I couldn't care less about audible support

I agree, we want Gapless! FLAC!

this is sweet! Now, we need links for audiobook downloads in the information portal - sort of a thread for content for the ZVM, with links for sites with free/non-free audio, video, photo & audiobook downloads....

or, do we already have that?? Lol, it's been awhile since I've browsed thru the portal, & there's so much stuff in there!!

flac is okay and all but really, wouldnt AC3 and native subtitle be so much better for our movies and improved bookmarking anyways on topic...

what i want to know is if i put my zen on random. will it play these audiobooks amongst my music or will there be a separate folder for these?

I told you Audible support would come in spring. The ZV:M has not been added to Audible.com yet.

Too bad Creative didn't add other features to the firmware update

rockbox would be nicer:(

Is that it, Audible support and DRM fixes? Is this what we've been waiting for the last couple of months? What about lockup issues a lot of units are experiencing? Text/lyrics support? How about a myriad of other requests that have been submitted to Creative?

Not that I'm ungrateful, but this update is kind of disappointing.

It doesn't cost a lot in R&D to add Audible support: this firmware is a total joke.

To summarize, we've been waiting almost three months for something that will allow us to pay for additional content (Audible isn't free as far as I know).

A few bug fixes and not a single new feature (I don't count Audible as a "feature"), let's pray for Rockbox since Creative doesn't really pay attention to his customers.

...very disappointing...

yeah, i agree with Utew. They should've fixed the WMP11 problem atleast.

WMP11 just came out and it's not even their job to fix that painkiller. It's a beta program that will have the same problems on all types of MTP devices not just the Vision:M.

Audible Schmaudible.

I aint upgrading.

I'm not upgrading either. My ZVM works just fine. If they happen to come out with a firmware that satisfies me, then I will pursue it. Otherwise, things are fine the way they are now.

Time has been added to the Now Playing screen. I'm positive there are many other bugs that were fixed that were not listed.

They are doing themselves a disservice by not including these fixes in the change log. Customers *love* to see improvements, no matter how minor or insignificant they might seem.

Big Bernard and Six, The old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ... is a good rule..

But things are just fine as far as I can tell after updating.. I think you are safe to have a go at it..

and Chahk, I agree with you...

One thing that seems to be fixed.. turning on "Bass Boost".. and having the EQ boosting bass too.. I am getting no distortion at all (at high volume).. just nice clean audio.. can anyone confirm this? .. sounds great on this end...

Yes....I do enjoy the timestamp on the now playing.....

So I guess Veggiemusician's whole thing really was a bust...more than ever it looks like it was just a hoax. But I agree, why would it take them 3 months to come out with this? I guess we should be grateful though, at least its something, they havent forgotten about us...

Oooh Utew ... I agree ... I believe there is a big difference ... sounds great here, too I usually leave it off for that reason and just read your post and turned it on ... sounds nice!

OMG IT MADE THE BASS BOOST AMAZING! THE BASS BOOST IS ACTUALLY USEFUL AND DOESN'T DISTORT NOW!

Bitshitter
May 24 (2006) 08:26PM
the bass boost fix is as great if not greater a fix than a lot of the other items mentioned above, IMO. Besides, there's no indication that this will be the last upgrade Creative puts out.....

Still distorts for me on some tracks with heavy bass. Oh well, Smart Volume solved it before and still does.

I hope Creative adds a textfile viewer next, and gapless would definitely be a great thing.

does installing new firmware delete existing music and settings?

ThinkerT
May 25 (2006) 06:56PM
Well, I for one applaud the Audible support - converting the audible files was fine, but it'll be nice to put my audible content directly on my ZV:M. I could care less about gapless, actually. That's why it must be tough to be them - everyone has different wants, and you can't please everyone.

No walla onion it does not. Everything will still be there after you install it.

Am I dumb or something? The link takes me to the old firmware version, 1.30.02. Did they take it down?

I agree Spongers, the link shows 1.30.02 from March which I already have. Whats going on here? Anyone have a link to the 1.40.02 firmware?
