Zencast Video Service and new Flash and X-Fi players later this year!

It was no hoax. Our French friends over at GenerationMP3 were at Creative's presentation and have provided information of what is being released.

Zencasts Subscription Services:

Since this was a French announcement, the new service is also going to be french based. This doesn't mean there won't be a similiar service for other parts of the world. Here's what will be offered:

  • Zencast will be used for regular audio and video
  • There will be paid services, as well as free services
  • Three major partners have signed up, including TF1vision. L'EquipeTV and NRJ.

These services will allow you to download movies, television shows, documentaries (from TF1vision), Music, photos and exclusive clips (from NRJ), and Sports programming (l'equipeTV).

Future Players

I'm not sure if they went into much detail, but Creative stated three new flash players are going to be released before June. Hopefully these are new designs and not something old with a new name. Creative also mentioned players that will be having X-Fi built in. These will be available in Decemeber.

These announcements might not be the most exciting to you, unless you live in France, but it's definitely a great step in the right direction. I'm sure similiar services will be worked out soon with N. American companies, like Cinemanow, or even Vongo. I'm just glad there actually was an announcement today!

Thanks, Greg

Exciting, though most of it seems to evolve around expanded Zencast services, my french is a bit rusty to say the least though.
The new flashplayers should arrive at the end of june, the x-fi and DD players at the end of the year.
Anyone wants to buy a used black ZV:M in december?

Ooohh, soccerhighlights from the danish SAS-liga......I can hardly wait!

Actually, the danish national radio has heavily advertised their podcasts in the last couple of months only mentioning Apple Video Ipod a gazillion times without even considering there are other players from other companies capable of video playback. And it's supposed to be a commercial free public service station! I wonder how many extra Apple products they have shifted in Denmark during that campaign, Apple must be proud.....

I wonder if there is a connection between Creatives choice to start this new download service in France & the French governments taking on of Apple to kill its DRM tech?
Like maybe Creative saw all this coming & is getting into bed with the French early so as to be in a good position to benefit first & foremost from the fallout when their DRM is unbundled?

Conspiricy?

We can't trust Creative with the dates. If they mention
x-fi mp3 players to be released by dec, most likely it would be 2007 Jan onwards.Look at the Zen Micro Photo and you will understand-_-
